Sweet Kernel (South Almond)
South Almond, have long been used in traditional Chinese medicine for colds and coughs. There are two different types of Chinese kernels in name - south kernel (sweet) and north kernel (bitter). Asian medicine regard kernels as a cough suppressant and a lubricating tonic for dry lungs, chronic cough and asthma. They also help promote digestion and appetite, engender fluid and relieve constipation. North and South almond can be added into pear herbal tonic drink with and fritillary bulb, snow fungus and papaya dessert, as well as dried sea coconut pork soup.
Cautions:
- Avoid overuse of Northern Kernel because of its mildly toxic nature. Raw foods, please cook thoroughly before serving.
